The Grand8: a long distance mountain bike race, classified and timed
This exclusively MTB-EA race takes place over two days on July 14 and 15, 2023.

It is reserved for experts and elite mountain bikers in the form of a 2-day tour of La Plagne with a night in a bivouac in the middle of the course and a start in the valley.
A total of 100 km and 5 970 m of D+ over the 2 days!
The Grand8: the mountain bike race not to be missed in July 2023
The Grand8 promises to take you further, higher and even beyond your own limits on the most secret trails and the most beautiful places in La Plagne. With a course specially designed for ATV-EA, more than 90% of which is on single tracks, each rider will be able to fully exploit the capabilities of his machine both up and downhill. Fast climbs in the forest, steep and technical climbs in the mountains, ridge lines with unbeatable panoramas and enduro descents, this is the Grand8 cocktail of two days that will surely remain unforgettable.
The race is limited to 50 pilots selected on sporting CVs. You must pre-register on the registration platform.

Day 1: In 2023 the departure will be given from one of the most typical villages of the region: Champagny en Vanoise, at the doors of the Vanoise National Park. After a few pedal strokes, you will arrive in the middle of the forest along the paths of the mountain chalets. Then, the singles of the slopes of Jovet will lead you to the mythical summit for the battery change. From there, you will have to cross a breathtaking ridge, with the Mont Blanc in your sights, then follow a 900m descent. The already tested thighs will have to be full of resources for a climb on the “Versants du soleil” side. Finally, a fast, technical and famous descent (according to all those who have ridden it) that will lead to the bivouac site.
Bivouac: you have probably understood that, after the amazing day on your bike, the idea is to keep on impressing you. Everything will be done to offer you a warm welcome and make sure that you can make the most of the majestic location: we will transport your belongings from the starting point and provide a tent, bike washing areas, mechanical workshop, supervised bike area, quality catering, festive atmosphere etc. In short, we take care of everything!
Day 2: The decisive day, the one where you will have to give everything to win. Leaving the bivouac, you will set off on a series of balcony singles through vineyards and small villages before passing through the valley at Aime. From there, a few laps on the flat, followed by singles in the forest to climb up to the mountain pastures. The terrain will then become more brittle and technical, under the eye of the Vanoise Glaciers perched at over 3000m. But there is no time to linger, because you will have to go up and down until the finish line. It is there that the pilots who have best combined technique, effort control… and battery will be rewarded!
Race logistics
Management of MTB-EA batteries
To participate in the Grand8, it is mandatory to have 2 batteries with a minimum capacity of 500 Wh each.
A change of battery will take place at the middle of each stage. The organization will take care of transporting your spare battery to these change places and of charging it for the change on the 2nd day. A recharging stand will be available at the bivouac site to charge the battery with which you will finish the first day and start the second stage the next day.
Bivouac in the mountains
The bivouac site is fully equipped so that you can find all the necessary technical facilities for you and your bike. Thus, a repair stand with a mechanic, a washing station, a guarded bike park and a battery recharging stand will be on site!
Once the first stage is over, no more stress! Your personal belongings for the night will have been transported by the organization, your tents and mattresses ready to welcome you for a restful night. All that’s left for you to do is to relax after a hot shower around a copious and convivial meal with music !
Ranking of the runners
There will be a classification by stage and a general classification at the end of the 2 days, categories Men and Women.
A 600 € bonus will be given to the male and female winners of the general classification.
