The race totals 95 km and 5600m of elevation gain on 2 days !
The Grand8 is THE ultimate e-mountain bike race. Taking you further on and higher up, surpassing your limits, the Grand8 is the promise of riding the most secret trails in the most beautiful places in La Plagne. On a course that has been especially studied for e-mountain bikes, with more than 90% on single tracks, each rider can fully exploit the capacities of his machine on the climbs and the descents. Rapid climbs in the forests, steep, technical trails in the high mountain areas, ridges with unsurpassed panoramic views and enduro descents will make up the unforgettable 2-day Grand8 cocktail.
The race is limited to 50 cyclists selected on the basis of their sporting CV.
Day 1: The race starts in the valley and after a short passage on the flat, it takes off on singles into Montchavin forest, climbing to the mountain pastures. The terrain then becomes more uneven and technical, overlooked by the Vanoise Glaciers more than 3000m above sea level. Then comes the “picture postcard” moment on a stunning mountain ridge. There is no time to stop and admire it, though, because you then have to race down over 1300 m to Champagny en Vanoise. From there, you ride to Champagny le Haut, a classified valley at the entrance to the Vanoise National Park, an exceptional location for a bivouac.
Bivouac: you have probably understood that, after the amazing day on your bike, the idea is to keep on impressing you. Everything will be done to offer you a warm welcome and make sure that you can make the most of the majestic location: we will transport your belongings from the starting point and provide a tent, bike washing areas, mechanical workshop, supervised bike area, quality catering, festive atmosphere etc. In short, we take care of everything!
Day 2: The decisive day, the one where you will have to give it your all to win. After leaving the valley and riding along the Champagny en Vanoise valley once again, the singles that climb the slopes of Mont Jovet will take you to just below the peak of the legendary summit. From there, you cycle along another ridge, with Mont Blanc in your sights, before starting another descent of more than 1000 m down to Aime. Your already well-tested thighs will still need to find more energy for another climb on the Versants du Soleil side of the valley, going through some of the most typical villages in the region. A final descent that is fast, technical and famous (according to all those who have ridden it) takes you to Aime, the end point of this epic tour. That is where the riders who have combined technique, control of the physical effort and their battery power to best effect will be rewarded !
